This is short and sharp but very important. If you planning to go off-road please please please use high tensile shackles. Your crap $2 shackles won’t last under the strain of a snatch strap so don’t bother.

Don’t be fooled by some smart companies putting out bowed shackles that are not high tensile. Look for the rating not the shape of the shackle!

  Can’t go past safety.
  A good safety measure also is to put some sort of damper over the strap, like a recovery blanket, heavy jacket or bag, so if there is a breakage then it will slow any potential projectiles down and lessen the damage.
