Cooper Zeon Targeting the Luxury and SUV Market

Cooper Tires have announced an extension to their product line, pushing into the small luxury and SUV market. Labeling the new products the Zeon series, Cooper are no doubt trying to take household 4X4 brand name into a much bigger segment…
In a press-release on friday Cooper made the following announcement
- The Cooper Zeon XSTA is a new asymmetrical, all-season sport truck tire available in 15- and 16 inch (H rated), and 17-, 18-, 22- and 24-inch (V rated). This new line includes fitments for vehicles such as the Land Rover, Jeep, Porsche Cayenne and Mercedes SUVs. The size range covers both original equipment sizes for sport trucks, SUVs and cross-over vehicles, as well as the popular plus-sized fitments. Additionally, the Cooper Zeon XST now offers the 295/30R22 XL size for premier SUVs and cross-over vehicles.
- The Cooper Zeon 2XS ultra-high performance line is pure adrenaline. Cooper is now offering the 2XS in a 205/55R15 V-rated tire as an original equipment replacement for the Toyota Celica, and the 195/55R15 V-rated tire for vehicles like the Honda Fit and Kia Rio.
The cite the change as being “all about performance, customer responsiveness” which I’m still scratching my head to understand exactly what that means but…
It will be interesting to follow the adaptation of the cooper brand on these types of vehicles. They’ve made a name for themselves for all the right reasons from a 4X4 enthusiast’s perspective, but I wonder if the same appeal will stretch to the soft roader market.
I’m yet to see first hand the tires to form any option on their potential performance off-road. But if there is one thing that Cooper do well it’s marketing, so I’m sure I’ll come across some before too long…
If anyone has any early feedback on the Cooper Zeon Series, feel free to speak up.
